Book Description From the Front Cover Flap

Take one older, not-so-wicked anymore witch, add a slightly grumpy cat, and one large bucket of singing shijimi clams, and what you do NOT end up with, (no matter how hungry you are), is miso soup with clams. What you end up with is plain miso soup. What you end up with is a quiet, delicately illustrated tale of another country. What you end up with is a friendship that needs determination, ingenuity, and kindness - but no translation.

Reviews From the Media

"A feel-good episode if ever there was one."
- Kirkus Reviews

"A witch who used to be mean but is now merely grumpy is determined to make a bowl of miso soup with clams. But her clams sleep and snore so peacefully, she can't quite bring herself to dump them in the boiling water. Instead, she goes to the marketplace and tries to raise money to take them back to the beach, where they belong."
