Half a century has passed since the Japanese American 442nd Regimental Combat Team had liberated the small town of Bruyeres, France during World War II. The incredible part of the story is how many of these Japanese Americans volunteered from U. S. concentration camps in the United States to prove their loyalty to the U.S. For most their families remained there while they fought in Europe.
Relations between the Japanese American soldiers and towns people continue to remain strong. Accounts of that historic period are told from the viewpoints of the French and 442nd Combat Team veterans as well as by the Germans and other U.S. units.
Pierre Moulin was born in Bruyeres November 1, 1948. He was told at a young age about the Japanese American soldiers who came to rescue their town from the German during World War II. At the age of 20 he traveled throughout the U.S. In 1978 he brought a group from Bruyeres to Hawaii to create a sister city. In 1989 he created the Peace and Freedom Trail on the path of the 100/442nd with a view to forever imprint the mark of the U.S. Samurais onto Bruyeres soil. This book represents his pledge to tell this incredible story to the world.
